The Italian Microfinance Network (RITMI) has been created on February 25th, 2008 in Bologna (Italy). Ritmi is a non-profit association that will work at national level and will represent the voice of the microfinance Italian operators’ community.
“Banking the unbankable”: this is the goal of the microfinance institutions operating worldwide. In Italy, according to the World Bank estimates, the financial exclusion rate reaches about 25% of the population, one of the highest in the European Union.
The Italian Microfinance Network links together the whole of microfinance institutions, consulting agencies, research centres, promoters, investors. RITMI will operate in association with the European Microfinance Network and will be open to the dialogue with all the institutions and the organizations active in this field.
